The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to assist with the rescue of a dog this evening (Thursday).
Fire Control mobilised Green Watch from Newport Fire Station to assist with the rescue of a dog that had fallen 40ft into the moat at Bembridge Fort.
Fortunately, working alongside Hampshire Fire Control, firefighters we were able to arrange for a key holder to attend to give them access.
This prevented the need for a full rope rescue operation.
The dog has since been reunited with its grateful owner.
Thank goodness this dog is back with it’s owners with no injuries. Only they know how the accident happened. Be careful.
Sadly he has suffered injuries. The dog pulled off and went off exploring as dogs do and fell, nothing more to it.
