Poundland look set to close their High Street store in Cowes later this year, Island Echo understands.
It is understood that staff were told of the news earlier this week, with the store set to close for the final time at the end of July.
The discount store – located at 6 High Street – only opened in 2021. The site previously housed M&CO.
Poundland first arrived on the Isle of Wight some 12 years ago when the Newport store was opened by Corrie actor Anthony Cotton. This was followed by a second store in Shanklin and in 2015 customers were welcomed in Ryde.
It was just last week that Poundland – owned by Polish retailer Pepco – announced that up to 200 of its stores could close.
Sadly another one bites the dust.

No where is far on the island, surely it would
be more profitable having just the 1 store on
the island in Newport.
It would save on rents, rates and wages etc!
Woolworths sadly failed and if Poundland
don’t watch out they will follow suit!
