Emergency services are tending to an injured cyclist in Cowes this afternoon (Friday).
The road traffic incident has occurred on Newport Road, around halfway between the Aldi roundabout and the doctor’s surgery.
It is unclear if the cyclist – whose bike is said to be in a hedge at the side of the road – has been hit by another vehicle, or has simply fallen in the wet conditions.
Motorists should avoid the area if possible, diverting locally via Nodes Road or Three Gates Road. Traffic is backed up on all approaches.
It was only yesterday that a male was knocked off of his motorcycle following a collision with a car on Three Gates Road, outside the Aldi supermarket.

Has someone got it in for Cowes today?
I hope they are OK!
Must’ve been very frightening
You play a game of Russian Roulette if you ride a push bike or a motorcycle on the roads these days. So many incompetent, idiotic car drivers now.
