The Isle of Wight’s largest independent garage and recovery specialists, D.H Price Motors, has announced the acquisition of a second site in Sandown, as the locally-owned company continues to expand its operations and invest in the future.
It was announced earlier this month that Leslies Motors is closing its Hyundai dealership at College Close due to changing market conditions.
Now, with a need to increase capacity and extend its service offering, Lake-based D.H Price Motors has confirmed it is to acquire the Sandown premises, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth.
The family-run business, founded by Daniel Price in 1997 and now employing 32 staff, operates from its main site at Spithead Business Centre in Lake. The company provides MOT testing, servicing, diagnostics, and repair work for both private and commercial vehicles, alongside 24-hour roadside recovery services.
The D.H Price name, however, has a much longer heritage on the Isle of Wight. Daniel’s grandfather, Desmond Price, originally traded under the same name from Lake Green Road Garage during the 1960s and early 1970s, with the family continuing to serve motorists on the Island for more than half a century.
With operations at capacity and a growing demand for its award-winning services, D.H Price Motors is expanding to ensure it can continue to meet the needs of both new and existing customers, while investing in the latest automotive technologies.
The company has confirmed to Island Echo that the new facility will benefit from continued investment, staff development, and training in emerging vehicle technologies – including the installation of dedicated bays for hybrid and electric vehicle servicing and repairs.
The new College Close garage will continue to offer Isle of Wight motorists a genuine alternative to main dealers, with technicians operating to the highest standards and holding enhanced qualifications.
The expansion will also bring new employment opportunities, with recruitment set to get underway across a range of roles soon.
Work to prepare the new Sandown site is set to begin on 28th November, with the opening to follow in early 2026.
