Fireworks will light up the skies over the Solent tonight (Friday) as the popular Cowes Week display returns for the first time in 7 years as part of the regatta’s bicentenary celebrations.
The Cowes Week Bicentenary Regatta fireworks display will begin at 21:30, with crowds expected to gather on both sides of the River Medina to watch the spectacle.
The Parade in Cowes is expected to be particularly busy, so visitors are being encouraged to make the most of alternative viewing locations.
The Green on the Esplanade, Egypt Esplanade and other waterfront locations around Cowes will offer views of the display.
Across the River Medina, the East Cowes Esplanade and seafront will also provide a vantage point for those wanting to watch the fireworks.
East Cowes Festival is taking place on the seafront, with entertainment getting underway from 16:00 ahead of the fireworks later in the evening.
Parking is limited in both Cowes and East Cowes, so those heading to either town should take this into consideration when planning their journey.
Tonight’s display marks the return of Cowes Week fireworks after a 7-year absence and comes as the famous regatta celebrates its bicentenary.
