Despite torrential downpours, Ryde’s 2025 Illuminated Carnival went ahead as planned on Saturday night (31st August), bringing colour, lights and music to the town in a spectacular end to this year’s carnival season on the Isle of Wight.
The procession set off from Ryde Esplanade at 20:30, following the same route as the town’s main carnival just days earlier. While the rain was relentless throughout the evening, spirits were not dampened, with hundreds of spectators lining the streets to enjoy the vibrant display.
Organisers pressed ahead with the event despite the poor weather, marking the final parade of the 2025 season. Illuminated floats, costumed walkers, dancers and marching bands all took part, bringing a welcome burst of energy to an otherwise wet and windy evening.
There were no reports of any major incidents during the event, and volunteers have been praised for their continued commitment to ensuring the show went on.
