UPDATED: A road traffic collision has forced the closure of Harding Shute near Brading tonight (Tuesday).
Emergency services are currently attending the incident between Beaper Shute and West Lane.
The road has been closed in both directions as Police, Fire and ambulance crews deal with the situation.
UPDATE @ 23:02 – The male driver of a red Daewoo and a female passenger have both been helped from the vehicle after it left the carriageway on a sharp left hand bend.
Initially it was feared the duo may have needed to be extricated from the small hatchback, prompting the turnout of fire appliances from Sandown and Newport. However, both the man and woman have escaped any serious injury.
Both casualties have been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital as a precautionary measure.
The vehicle is being recovered and the road is set to re-open shortly.
