A 2-car crash is blocking the main route between Newport and Yarmouth this afternoon (Sunday).
Emergency crews were first called to Forest Road at around 13:50 following reports of a 2-car collision between Whitehouse Road and Snows Garage.
The crash has involved a Skoda and a Mercedes and has resulted in both cars being pushed to opposite sides of the carriageway.
Despite the impact of the smash, the occupants of the involved vehicles have been able to walk away from the crash, with a single ambulance crew from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service currently checking over those involved.
A single pumping appliance from Newport was called to the scene however they were quickly stood down.
Quick thinking by those at the scene has seen the involved vehicles pulled to a lane at the side of the road, however the road remains blocked by emergency vehicles.
Motorists are having to divert locally – using Middle Road and Betty Haunt Lane – for the time being.
UPDATE @ 14:40 – The road has reopened.

More needs to be done on the island to make Roads safe.
Speed Camera’s islandwide would help.
It is obvious many motorists don’t stick to the rules,
so the authorities need to put measures in place to
STOP motorists speeding.
So many Roads on the island are speedway.
Military Road, Briddlesford Road, Beachfield Road,
Great Preston Road, Beaper Shute and the Main Road are a few
Speeding hotspots to name a few.
There are many more.
It would be great if the new MPs and Cllr Jordan addressed
Speeding on the island.
Many islanders would be happy to pay more Council tax
to employ more traffic Police etc.
Wales and London introduced 20mph and the roads are much
safer.
