A road traffic collision at Blackwater is causing delays on the main Newport to Sandown road this afternoon (Wednesday).
The incident has occurred on the A3056 near the junction with Merstone Lane – known locally as Crouchers Cross.
Police, fire and ambulance crews are all at the scene having been alerted to the smash at around 16:00. Fire appliances from Ryde and Newport have been mobilised.
Traffic is backed up in both directions. Motorists should avoid the area if at all possible.
Southern Vectis says that all Route 2 buses will be diverting via Rookley until further notice.
Emergency services are also currently dealing with another road traffic collision in Cowes.
UPDATE: The road has now reopened to traffic.

I’d call that Merston not Blackwater
Still so many visitors on the island.
And whats that got to do with the amount of RTC’s on the island mainly caused by island drivers then.
I see the price of fish has gone up too!
Ignorant, blind drivers, in a rush to no where…
