UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision at Ashey this afternoon (Tuesday), which has resulted in the closure of the road leading to The Downs.
Police and ambulance crews are on scene at Ashey Road, Ryde between East Ashey Lane and Green Lane after being alerted to a collision involving at least 1 car at just before 15:15.
Traffic is being diverted off The Downs via East Ashey Lane, which has become gridlocked. Motorists should avoid the area, diverting via Brading Down Road and Beaper Shute to Ryde.
UPDATE @ 16:20 – 3 motorcyclists and a Mazda MX5 have been involved in the collision, Police have confirmed.
No one has been seriously injured with those involved described as walking wounded.
Motorists should continue to avoid the area with the road still closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 17:00 – The incident has now been cleared and the road has reopened in both directions.
