Cowes Primary School celebrated the whole of its school community at its annual International Day event on Thursday (15th June).
The school is proud of its diversity and currently teaches children whose families are from all areas of the world including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Japan, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Sudan, Nigeria, China, Sweden, Turkey, Botswana, Australia, Cayman Islands and Ireland.
The children from Years 5 and 6 opened the event by performing a Bollywood dance which had been choreographed by dance teacher Jaydene, celebrating the international feel of the school community.
Headteacher Stephanie Praetig commented:
“It was such a lovely afternoon as we celebrated food and culture from across the globe.
“Our wonderful families supported us with their culinary delights, including food from Nigeria, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Australia and Denmark, whilst the children took us around the world with their facts and figures to Indonesia, Pakistan, Italy, India, Brazil, New Zealand and Wales.”
