Cowes RNLI went to the aid of a small RIB with engine failure off Cowes this afternoon (Friday).
At 16:35, Solent Coastguard requested Cowes’ inshore lifeboat launched to assist a 4m rib with engine failure that was drifting rapidly east of Cowes on a strong tide and a force 7 SW wind.
The ‘Sheena Louise’ and her crew located the rib with 2 people on board in the main shipping channel off Osborne Bay.
Once a tow had been established, the RIB was taken into Trinity Landing where the larger vessel this rib had come from was berthed.
Ventnor Coastguard Team were awaiting the casualty vessel’s arrival.
