Residents at Old Charlton House in Cowes marked National Dog Day with a series of special visits from dogs across the Isle of Wight.
The event was organised by activities coordinator, Debbie Webb, who put out a call on Facebook asking for canine visitors. The response was overwhelming, with dog owners from across the Island bringing their pets to brighten the residents’ day.
Spending time with the dogs proved hugely therapeutic, helping to reduce anxiety and boost positive emotions.
Local dog boutique Tommy Barker added to the occasion by donating personalised biscuits for the visiting pooches.
Resident Marilyn said:
“What a marvellous day, everyone had smiles on their faces all day.”
Resident Annie added:
“Such a lovely day, the dogs all had great temperaments and were so gentle and friendly.”

Several visitors have already pledged to return, much to the delight of residents.
Debbie Webb said:
“As always, the Isle of Wight community have stepped up and been absolutely brilliant. The residents loved their visits, and it was a truly magical day for them, the home was full of love, laughter and joy.”
The day was hailed a huge success, with residents now looking forward to welcoming the dogs back again soon.
