The Isle of Wight Council has announced that its website will be taken offline for a period of 3 days from this coming Friday to enable security maintenance on its IT systems.
From 18:00 on Friday 1st April until 08:00 on Monday 4th April, there will be no access to the iwight.com website or associated services. This includes all residential services such as waste services, online payments, registrar services and planning.
The local authority says the downtime will help maintain the computing infrastructure and help to protect individuals’ information – an ironic step just days after a major data breach involving 90 schoolchildren.
Islanders are being reminded to make any enquiries or payments, for services such as Council Tax or benefits, before 1st April.
Emergency calls will be dealt with as usual throughout the weekend by Wightcare on 01983 821105.
The Isle of Wight Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Floating bridge, council, now even the website unfit for purpose.
Don’t forget BS MP
Well at least things are consistent
Bit like this website.
So another 20+k on maintenance
Don’t imagine it will impact on services very much, even when it does work they rarely take action to complaints…
Can I have 3 days knocked off my council tax bill as they aren’t available?
No but they can put it up no problem
Needs to be thrown into the bin as its the worst web site i have ever tried to find things on. Even when you pay your council tax online, it stopped sending you an email as proof of paying and yet they just keep on telling you there is nothing wrong.
They should have a comments page.
That would be entertaining.
How about it IW council ?
Most posts would probably be removed, as far as the council are concerned, they do a perfect job and should get a huge pay rise which they say they deserve as well
Just when everyone will be trying to pay their Council Tax/ find out about any Council support for the most vulnerable for energy bills etc. Looks like very bad timing.
