UPDATED: Emergency services, including the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, are attending a road traffic collision at Fishbourne between Binstead and Wootton this morning (Thursday).
The incident, which has involved a car and a Southern Vectis school bus, has taken place at Eleanor’s Grove.
Traffic is reported to be heavy in both directions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 10:10 – Firefighters from Ryde, who came across the incident whilst travelling, have helped free a woman from her vehicle after she crashed into the rear of a Vectis Blue bus.
The casualty is now being cared for by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Southern Vectis have confirmed that no children were on board the bus at the time of the incident.
Traffic remains heavy in the area whilst recovery of the vehicles takes place.
UPDATE – The scene has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal.
The driver of the Suzuki Alto has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital with a rib injury.
