The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to a smouldering log chip pile in Shalfeet this afternoon (Wednesday).
A single appliance from Newport was called to a remote area shortly before 12:45.
The whole time crew, maned by Blue Watch, used COBRA, their high-pressure lance, along with a drag rake to cool and spread the pile.
The firefighters returned to their station at around 14:30 after being certain the fire was out.
You can see their COBRA lance in action as this afternoon’s incident.

And apparently, along with the new “COBRA”, they are also trialling a new triple extension “ADDER”!
Or the version that drapes over both shoulders, the BOA
Ha, ha! Very good!
Which was ‘maned’ by Blue Watch!
Erm… thrilling??
They were probably helped by Monty Python and Blackadder
