Coastguard Officers were tasked to Ryde Sands late this afternoon (Tuesday) when a 999 call reported that persons may have been cut off by the tide.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team responded to the area shortly before 16:00 and conducted a local area search.
Although there were a lot of walkers in the area, all were clear of the sands before the tide started to turn.
With all persons deemed to be safe the team were stood down.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
