A staggering total of £8,900 has been raised in just 1 week in memory of Vestas worker and father-of-3 Sam Willis, who tragically died at the young age of 34 last Wednesday (19th April).
Sam had an ear infection complaint, which then spread to mastoiditis and then meningitis. He was transferred to Southampton General Hospital but sadly, despite the best efforts of medics, he passed away.
It is intended that any money donated in Sam’s memory be given to Southampton General Neuroscience Department and Sam’s partner, Rochelle.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by family friend, Kay Gayle.
Kay explains:
“Our dear friend Sam Willis passed away last Wednesday very, very unexpectedly due to an ear infection that then spread to mastoiditis and then meningitis. He worked at Vestas – who have put their flags at half-mast. He was only 34.
“Rochelle and their three beautiful children, as well as his Mum Shelley, Dad Kev, Stepdad Pete, brother Chris, along with the rest of his family and friends, are all in utter shock and disbelief.
“The funds will help support Roch in easing any financial worries she may have and provide money which could be used to give the boys fun days out when they’re finding times tough or to put aside for them for the future”.
Anyone wishing to donate to Sam’s family and the Southampton Hospital which cared for him, may do so here.

So sad!! Can’t believe it! He was a genuine top bloke! Hope Roch and the boys can stay strong!
