UPDATED: Classic Isle 2016, which was due to take place at Northwood House in Cowes this weekend, has been cancelled by the organisers.
The organisation behind this event – Classic Isle Limited – were keen for the event to go ahead, but the Met Office has issued a weather warning for gales with frequent showers.
Given that Classic Isle is an outdoors, picnic-style event, organisers have had to put the public’s health and safety first and felt it would be irresponsible to continue no matter how disappointed they were.
Organisers will be contacting their database of ticket purchasers to arrange refunds as soon as possible.
UPDATE @ 14:15 – The launch event in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, to be held tomorrow (Friday) at Northwood House is still to go ahead.
Although bad weather has forced Classic Isle organisers to cancel the main music festival, the launch event will take place inside Northwood House.
Nigel Hartley, CEO, said:
“It’s very disappointing for the organisers who I know have worked very hard to get some international acts to appear. However, we very much hope to counter some of that disappointment by continuing to welcome guests who have already booked – and anyone else who would like to come on the night – to what promises to be a fantastic evening of music in the wonderful setting of Northwood House.
“We are so very grateful to Medina Community Choir for giving up their time to come and perform and very much look forward to tomorrow night”.
The evening will be between 19:00-21:00 and the entry fee is a suggested minimum donation of £10, which includes a finger buffet. A bar will also be available. It is not necessary to pre-book tickets, as guests are welcome to arrive on the night, although tickets can be booked by contacting Tina Groves on 01983 217311 or email [email protected].
