Sandown’s Christ Church hosted a seasonal carol concert with Sandown and Shanklin Military Band, with the packed congregation singing along to a medley of carols with festive songs, following their successful evening at St Paul’s in Shanklin. The Band played White Christmas, Chestnuts Roasting, O Come All Ye Faithful, When a Child is Born, with a special medley of festive songs in an hour-long set, that included a piece involving the younger members of the audience. Rev Williams said:
“Thanks to our team of volunteers for providing mince pies and refreshments, which went down well with the programme of music conductor David Plummer and the Band played – they really did raise the roof!”
Sandown Town Mayor Alex Lightfoot added:
‘‘The Concert was the icing on the cake for Christmas in Sandown, and it was great to see so many in attendance. It was a great culmination to a series of events we have supported with the extremely successful Christmas Fun Day, Shop Window display and Children’s Yule designs in the Library. “I’d like to wish all of our residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to an exiting 2024 for the town’
Christ Church is holding a Nativity Service on Saturday from 16:00, and a Christmas Day service from 10:30.
