UPDATED: 2 youngsters have been taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance this evening (Sunday) after getting into difficulty in the sea near to Ryde Harbour.
Members of the public spotted that the duo were in trouble as they struggled to keep above the surface of the water.
Paramedics rushed to the scene alongside HM Coastguard at shortly before 18:00, but thankfully the children were quickly pulled from the water and taken to safety by passing members of the public.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has conveyed both patients to the Emergency Department over fears of secondary drowning.
UPDATE @ 21:17 – The parents of the 2 girls have thanked the men who dashed to their children’s aid, hailing them ‘heroes’.
The men are understood to have been on Jet Skis.
The girls are expected to make a full recovery.
