One of the Isle of Wight’s leading detectives, Acting Detective Sergeant Iain Robertson, has been recognised for his dedication at Hampshire Constabulary’s Chief Constable Awards ceremony.
The ceremony, hosted by Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney, was held at the police Support & Training Headquarters in Netley on Friday (6th May). Attendees were joined by friends and family, as well as other guests including Police & Crime Commissioner Donna Jones, Lord Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson and Her Honour Judge Angela Morris.
A/DS Robertson was one of a number of officers and staff from across Hampshire & the Isle of Wight who were awarded for their outstanding service to the public and victims of crime.
Iain has been involved in many of the more serious investigations on the Island, often altering his personal life in order to go above and beyond in his commitment to investigating crime whilst stepping up to the role of Acting Detective Sergeant. In addition, Iain has delivered a series of training sessions for Special Constables on top of his day job to enhance the skills of these officers.
Guests at the ceremony were also told of the tremendous support Iain provided to colleagues during periods of high demand, keeping a close eye on the welfare of others. On one particular occasion, Iain supported officers who had been working long hours in bad weather at the scene of an assault with limited access to food and water.
He was presented with the Chief Constable’s ‘Quiet Brilliance’ Award in recognition of his committed personal response to serious crime on the Island, and presenting professional and knowledgeable support to colleagues and other supervisors during times of peak demand. In particular, for taking ownership of serious offences and actively promoting an investigative response and victim focused approach in the role of Acting Detective Sergeant.
