A day trip to The New Forest and Bournemouth is being organised by The Holiday Shop, in conjunction with Wight Coaches and Red Funnel, in a bid to raise vital funds for Island mother Sue Bulmer who suffers from Metastatic Ocular Melanoma.
On Tuesday 25th July, those interested can enjoy a trip to the National Park and the iconic seaside town for a donation of just £20.
In 2009, at just 35 years old Sue – from Sandown – found out she had ocular melanoma (OM) in her left eye.
As a result, the former carer had her whole eye removed, leaving her completely blind in her left eye. Back then, Sue and her family – which includes 4 children – were told that if the cancer were to return it would most likely go to her liver – this happens to around 50% of people diagnosed with (OM).
Some 13 years later in October of 2022, whilst having her yearly liver scan, Sue found out that the melanoma had returned and metastasized to her liver. This is sadly classed as stage 4 incurable cancer.
Back in March a fundraiser was started by Emma (Sue’s daughter) to raise money for Chemosaturation, a revolutionary cancer treatment. So far a total of over £80,000 has been raised.
Wight Coaches and Red Funnel together with The Holiday Shop have fronted all the costs involved meaning 100% of the ticket price will go to the charitable cause.
