Wightlink Cycle Race Team rider Kev Chant secured an impressive 7th place at the RTTC National 25 Time Trial in Cambridgeshire on Sunday (3rd August), just days after smashing the course record in the local Evening TT Series.
Chant travelled to Cambridgeshire fresh from his record-breaking performance on the Ningwood 10 circuit, where he claimed overall victory in the series.
Competing in his first-ever 25-mile time trial, he faced a challenging out-and-back course featuring several technical roundabouts.
Favourable weather conditions helped deliver fast times, and Chant – seeded early in the day – produced a superb ride to finish in 50:53, placing him ahead of most of the field. With 135 riders on the start sheet, he initially held 3rd position before eventually finishing 7th as the favourites crossed the line.
Kev has said:
“I don’t think I could have done much more on the day. I paced it well and I’m really pleased with the 7th place finish in under 51 minutes up against a lot of top-class riders in the UK.
“I’m now looking forward to the National 10, which is more my distance, later this month and hoping to bring home another good result for the team.”
The result adds to Chant’s strong run of form and boosts momentum for Wightlink CRT ahead of the upcoming National 10 event.
