Ballyrags Comedy Club is bringing yet another luminary of the UK comedy scene to the Island next Thursday (17th October) with Angelos Epithemiou, as seen on Shooting Stars, BBC1 & ITV1 but most known for The Angelos Epithemiou Show on Channel 4, headlining what is an otherwise all-Island comedy gig.
The all-local supporting line-up, a first for Ballyrags, is an acknowledgement of the rich and growing pool of talent and variety within the Island creative scene. The next show sees Islanders Quivers, Adam Gaterell, Polly Proud & Baron Fortitude take the stage, whilst music is provided by another local in DJ Shufflah.
Founded by Islanders Luc Valvona, best known as Baron Fortitude, & Toby Brown, who also hosts the show, Ballyrags provides a pathway for students of Luc’s own Isle of Wight School of Comedy, with a number of students successfully transitioning from school to stage, both at Ballyrags and beyond.
Toby Brown says the diversity of talent on the Island is a credit to it;
“I’m immensely proud that we’re able to showcase a diverse range of homegrown acts and talent and give them the chance to perform alongside nationally recognised artists.”
Luc Valvona added;
“It happens to be my birthday on the 17th, so I booked Angelos, one of my favourite acts. Although judging by the sales already he’s clearly a favourite of everyone!”
Ballyrags is held every third Thursday of the month at Fubar on Union Street, Ryde. Online tickets are £12.00 and are available via tickets.ballyrags.com, with limited availability at £15.00 on the door.
