A celebration of the life of the well-known and much-respected Isle of Wight author, historian and journalist Adrian Searle is to be held at Shanklin Chine on Tuesday 28th March, from 11:00.
All are welcome. Anyone attending is invited to write a memory of Adrian in advance, which can be left in a dedicated post box on the day. Entrance to the Chine is by the lower (seafront end) entrance.
A memorial plaque will be unveiled during the morning.
In lieu of flowers, his family ask that those that are able to make a donation in his memory, to post to Spirit Events, 60-61 High Street, Brading, IW, PO36 0DQ, online at https://in-memory-of-adrian.raisely.com/ or in person at the celebration. All donations will be used to help families in poverty on the Island, a cause important to Adrian throughout his life.
Adrian’s son Matthew says:
“Knowing how important Dad was to others outside the family, we have also arranged a celebration of his life: an occasion far more joyful and fitting than the traditional solemn affairs Dad so disliked.
“This will be a chance to remember, share memories, laugh and celebrate his life.”
