CASH AWARDS TO SUCCESSFUL STUDENT TEAMS AT LATEST PITCH TO THE PANEL

The latest round of ‘Pitch To The Panel’ as part of the Young Enterprise programme, delivered by Ed-WISE on the Isle of Wight, was a great success. The competition sees student teams launch and trade as a genuine business for an academic year, with each team supported by a business advisor who guides the students around key business decisions. With 12 Island school teams taking part, the standard was very high this year. 3 teams that delivered the best presentations received funding from the awarding panel, including: 1st place – Supperready from Isle of Wight College, winning £150. Their business venture is to support students with healthy meals to maximise their learning abilities. 2nd place – Wild Wax Melts from Carisbrooke College, winning £100. Their business venture is the retail offering of a range of wax products. 3rd place – Insignia from Carisbrooke College, winning £50. Their business venture is the retailing of bespoke-made badges.

The last stage in the student journey this year is the Isle of Wight Grand Final. This event is free for all to attend and gives all visitors the chance to meet the teams and hear about their business ventures. It is being held at Island Riding Centre on Tuesday 30th April from 09:00 to 12noon, with the trade stands open 09:00 to 10:00. Teams then deliver their business presentations and awards are made 10:00 to 12noon. Click here to register to attend.
