Old Charlton House Care Home held their annual Summer Party this August for residents, their friends and family, and the staff. They were very lucky with the weather, as it held and was sunny and warm. Most of the residents came outside to join in the fun in the lovely accessible garden. The party had a Country and Western theme and all the residents loved wearing their red glittery Stetsons and they all looked very dapper. Residents were entertained by singer, Megan Long Mackney, who performed a lovely Country and Western set. They sang along to many of the tunes and even got to play some instruments that she provided. Some of the staff even did an impromptu line dance in the garden, much to the appreciation of the residents. Carers, Poppy, Gina and Tracy got some of the residents up and dancing too. They had never seen one before and most of them said it was far too pretty to hit! After they were convinced to give it a go -they hit it with gentle taps! Luckily our Chef’s daughter, Elena, 4, was on hand to show them how it is done and managed to free the sweet treats from inside, allowing the residents got to eat them after all! Chef, Leigh, put on a wonderful spread. He barbecued all afternoon and the residents thoroughly enjoyed tucking into the thick burgers and hot dogs. There were bottles of beer and cider, pitchers of shandy and glasses of wine to help the afternoon along. Even Boris the cat who lives along the road turned up to see if he could get his paws on any of the food, sadly for Boris, everyone had eaten it Activities Coordinator, Debbie Webb, said:
“It was brilliant to see so many members of the Old Charlton family coming together and having fun. It’s always a privilege to witness the joy and happiness of the residents, and we thank all of the friends, family and staff for their company”.
