Police, firefighters and paramedics have rushed to Newport this afternoon (Thursday) where a car has crashed, coming to rest on its side.
Emergency crews are currently on scene on Lugley Street, near the junction with Mill Street, having been called at around 16:30 to reports of a road traffic collision.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene tending to those involved, with both a pumping appliance and the Rescue Support Vehicle from Newport Fire Station also present.
It is not thought that any persons are trapped within the overturned vehicle.
Lugley Street is currently blocked at the junctions with St James’ Street.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 17:19 – Police have confirmed that 2 vehicles have been involved in the incident.
Minor injuries have been reported.

Always a dodgy junction due to numpties
not stopping at the giveway markings.
I would stick a speed hump in front of the
giveway markings, that will make motorists
stop / drive slower when approaching such
junctions.
Look at your Highway code. Broken white lines are GIVE WAY. Solid white lines are STOP. There is a difference or maybe you and most of the islanders are not aware of the meanings????
Obviously didn’t quite manage to get it onto its roof…
