UPDATED: A car has come to rest in a rather precarious position in Shanklin this morning (Thursday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are on scene at Hope Hill, where a Hyundai has shot forward and almost gone over the edge of a high wall leading down to Shanklin Seafront.
Island Echo understands nobody was in the vehicle at the time of the incident, which occurred at around 09:40.
Fire crews have secured the small hatchback with a large rope whilst a plan of action is put together.
Thankfully, no one has been injured in the incident.
Shanklin Seafront is currently closed to all traffic.
UPDATE – The vehicle, understood to be a hire car, has now been recovered by Stag Lane Motors.
The road has re-opened to traffic in both directions.
