UPDATED: A car has collided into the rear of a parked lorry in Newport this lunchtime (Tuesday), resulting in the High Street becoming blocked.
Emergency services are currently attending the incident outside Yates’, in which a silver Ford KA has sustained serious damage after smashing into the food delivery lorry.
The elderly female driver is not thought to have sustained any serious injuries and is not trapped inside her vehicle.
The High Street is currently closed from the junction with Quay Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 12:35 – Newport High Street has reopened to traffic.
One female has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital as a precaution.
