A silver Ford Fiesta ST ended up in a field after ploughing through a hedge between Whitwell and Ventnor recently.
The incident is thought to have taken place last week on a stretch of Whitwell Road between St Lawrence Shute and Watcombe Bottom.
There are ‘Police Aware’ signs on the vehicle but Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has told Island Echo they cannot find the incident on their system.
It’s unclear if any injuries were sustained in the single-vehicle crash.
It’s not the 1st time that a Ford Fiesta has lost control and ended up in the field on the same stretch of road. As previously reported by Island Echo, the same fate befell another Fiesta driver last August and there have also been multiple other similar incidents on the same stretch of road in recent memory.

we all know what ST stands for, stupid tw@, or is it small testikals, like the rest of ST owners trying to be big men in rubbish cars. No wonder insurance is so high for those that know how to drive on the island
Old farts again on the road making a big mistake Davey boy
Defiantly not an old farts car is it, you Muppet.
Easy tiger, its not the cars fault that most of their drivers are Muppets
ST is a great little hatch, unfortunately drivers with big egos and no talent tend to drive them.
Scuse me, I’ve got an ST… and I’m an ‘old fart’ by all accounts. If you can’t handle the speed appropriately, get a Fiat 500 or a VW up.
Sorry Martin, a VW Up won’t help I/E reported the other day one ended up on its side in Ryde, a push bike would be more appropriate.
As long as it’s a 595.
Stupid kids that think they’re invincible now they’ve passed their test.
Didnt we all do that back in the day? Only difference now is even your average runaround has far greater performance than say 20 / 30 years ago.
ST = T W A T Mobiles ,the Island is full of them.
Personally I would have them all crushed, they are doing so much
Damage to the environment.
Third headline in a row about a road accident
Wait to we start getting ice, it will take over the whole Website.
It makes you wonder how bad some of these drivers are at the basics?
Watched 2 learner drivers with instructors this week not indicating when over taking parked cars so if they aren’t being shown the basics god help us all.
It’s not always necessary to signal in those circumstances. If other road users can easily anticipate the manoeuvre there is little sense to it.
Why do you think that you should indicate to “overtake “ parked cars?
what do you expect them to do?
Just ram them up the ass ?
Think about it
Don’t blame the road, blame the drivers who have these accidents.
Little boy racers in there little boy racing cars never mind move on to the next one. i like the bit it’s multiple incidents on the same road now that’s good island driving for you they all make the same field. can one tell me Do they have driving test over there
Here ‘s a thought, why don’t they make a new law stating that if drivers wish to drive cars above a certain performance level then they must take an extended test after they have been driving for a year. Stop most of the muppets on our roads.
Totally understand what you’re saying. However, this is still a ford fiesta. Even the ST isn’t powerful. Its more styling.
150m bhp…. way too much for a youngster… should be 50 bhp tops…Until they’ve held a full licence for 3 years Then 100 bhp limit until they’re 25. Bit like all the bike laws- bhp v age etc.
150 bhp is a small car
Nice idea but I’m fairly sure most cars can exceed the speed limit even the rubbish ones
Not that it ha directly anything to do with terrible driving in unsuitable cars, but it might make a difference if all the boy racers’ cars with the faulty exhausts were pulled and lost their MOTs, and a new MOT would only be given if the vehicle was put back to factory settings. That would take a lot of fun out of all the “posing” that impresses no one apart from the owner.
The old bill should pull them and check that they have declared the after market silencer to their insurance company…Oh, and while their at it, check that their modified ECU to produce pop/bangs on overrun has been declared. No declaration = void insurance= car gone.
Makes a change. Normally all the ST’s are parked in a supermarket or MacDonalds car parks while several SDE yoofs smoke weed and talk about throttle response and spot creams.
Left hand down a bit.
Awful lot of ‘hedge careering’ going on at the moment.
Best to do it now before the nesting season starts!
Another Island Road where vehicles constantly break the speed limit,
hence another unnesseccary accident.
It is about time Mr Jordan done something about Road Safety on this UNSAFE Island.
Little boy racers, biff, pop, bang.
mate you really can,t park there..
