A year of fundraising by members of Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club has raised an impressive £9,412.86 for Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight, with the money set to transform the gardens at a dementia resource centre in Cowes.
The fundraising total was revealed last weekend, when outgoing club captains Dorian Cobb and Vicki Guildford presented a certificate to Liz Pearson, Chair of Trustees of Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight.
The money was raised through a variety of golf competitions, social events and donations from club members and supporters over the past year.
The funds will be used to improve the outdoor space at Parklands Dementia Resource Centre in Cowes, which provides support, friendship and activities for people living with dementia, their families and carers.
Planned improvements include a new book swap shed, outdoor games, gardening equipment, a robotic lawnmower and additional seating, helping to make the gardens an even more welcoming and enjoyable space for visitors.
Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight and the Parklands centre play an important role in supporting those affected by dementia across the Isle of Wight.
The impressive fundraising achievement marks the end of Dorian and Vicki’s year as club captains, with the generosity of members and supporters helping to make a lasting difference to the local charity.
The club has thanked everyone who contributed to the fundraising efforts throughout the year, helping to support people living with dementia and those who care for them.
