UPDATED: Police are on the hunt for a car and 2 dogs that have been stolen in Freshwater this afternoon (Monday).
The red Ford Focus – registration CK03 LSD – has been taken from School Green Road in the town.
Shockingly, 2 dogs that are said to be in the back of the vehicle have also been taken. The dogs are described as a Border Collie and a Cairn.
Anyone who spots the vehicle should contact Police on 101 – or 999 in an emergency.
UPDATE @ 14:50 – The vehicle and both animals have been safely recovered, it has been confirmed.
The vehicle is owned by Ray Scott, a member of Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – In an unexpected twist, Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that neither the car nor the dogs were stolen.
UPDATE TUESDAY – Mr and Mrs Scott would like to thank the emergency services for their efforts and everyone that assisted.
Mr Scott is said to now be eating humble pie.
