62-year-old Garry Oates is to face a trial in the Magistrates Court later this year accused of being threatening, abusive or insulting towards an Isle of Wight traffic warden.
Oates is alleged to have used threatening, abusive or insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress to a civil enforcement officer on 26th April this year.
The incident is said to have occurred by Oates’ home in a Council car park off Fort Street, Sandown. It came about after the local authority traffic warden put a penalty charge notice on Oates’ car.
Garry, who likes to call himself ‘Captain’ and is the Chair of local charity Blue Seas Protection, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
He will now appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 6th October. He has been granted unconditional bail in the meantime.
