Motorists heading to and from Cowes are facing significant disruption this morning (Tuesday) due to a burst water main on Horsebridge Hill, which has left locals without supply.
Southern Water is carrying out emergency repairs with temporary traffic lights erected near Partridge Road as engineers work to fix the damaged main. This is causing heavy congestion in both directions.
Traffic heading towards Newport from Cowes is backed up from Partridge Road to the County Showground, while queues towards Cowes stretch back to St Mary’s Junction.
Low water pressure and supply interruptions in the area are affecting local residents, but bottled water has been made available.
Southern Vectis says its Route 1 buses are likely to experience delays during peak periods because of the ongoing roadworks. The Newport-bound stop at Lonsdale Avenue is currently out of use, with passengers advised to use the Chapel Corner stop instead.
There is additional disruption for those travelling to and from Cowes, as Park Road has been closed for separate emergency works. Route 1 buses will not be serving Round House (Cowes-bound), IW Community Club, Parklands Avenue or Rashley’s until further notice.
Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys or seek alternative routes while repairs continue.

This sounds very close to where the new housing estate has recently been erected and the services recently pulled, leaving trafic disruption for months. Probably gone live and oh look, Major Problem!!
Bit like the one done on Ahsey Rd Ryde and then burst and flooded Smallbrook Stadium.
Would be so nice in the modern day world if they could do the job properly the first time round. Will this continue to happen as more multiple homes get built? Watch this space.
So nice to have a armchair warrior who thinks they no what their talking about get your facts right first then comment or just shyt up

Traffic lights?? Why not a 10 mile diversion??
Then our water bills go up and the hosepipe ban goes on….and the traffic disruptions continue…
