The death of a man in his 70s, whose body was found washed up on the beach between Fishbourne and Binstead, is not being treated as suspicious.
Police were called to Fishbourne Lane at 10:03 on Boxing Day (Sunday) following the discovery of an elderly man’s body on the beach, as first reported by Island Echo.
Detectives from Newport CID were called out to conduct an initial investigation into the circumstances of the death.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
The man’s next of kin is aware.
