A charity coordinating an aid effort on the Isle of Wight, to support Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s invasion, has received support and praise from Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely.
Mr Seely met with Victoria Dunford, founder of the MAD-Aid charity, in East Cowes on Saturday (23rd April) to hear more about how Islanders have supported the cause so far, and the difference the aid had made.
So far, 8 MAD-Aid trucks have transported aid valued at around half a million pounds to Moldova from the Isle of Wight with the first truck shipped just 8 days following the start of the conflict.
Following the MP’s visit Ms Dunford said:
“It was a privilege to welcome Mr Seely to the MAD-Aid office to show him what we do and to discuss the need for continued help into Moldova to assist the large number of Ukrainian displaced people who left Ukraine with so little.”
Mr Seely said:
“Thank you to Victoria for welcoming me to the MAD-Aid office and for talking to me about the Island’s first-class response to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
“I have seen for myself how generous Islanders have been and I have heard about the amazing work being done by MAD-Aid to get this aid to Ukrainian refugees.
“Thank you to Victoria for the amazing work she is coordinating to help Ukrainian refugees and thank you to Islanders for their continued support.”
MAD-Aid continues to welcome donations. If you can help with any of the items from the list below, send them to MAD-Aid at 10 York Avenue, East Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO32 6QY, or alternatively, you can donate money via https://www.mad-aid.org.uk/donate/.
