BOB ASKS GOVERNMENT WHAT’S BEING DONE TO TACKLE PLASTIC POLLUTION PROBLEM

Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely has submitted written questions to the Government to ask what steps are being taken to tackle the international problem of ocean plastic pollution. Bob has previously discussed the problem of ‘nurdle’ pollution on Brook Beach with Island environmental group, Planet Aware. Nurdles are small plastic pellets which are used as a raw material in the manufacture of plastic products. More recently, the MP asked 2 questions – the first about the merits of classifying nurdles as a hazardous shipment and the second about the steps being taken to tackle nurdle pollution in the marine environment. Mr Seely’s full questions are below:

  • To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether the Government has made representations to the International Maritime Organisation on the potential merits of classifying pre-production plastic pellets, nurdles, as a hazardous shipment.
  • To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps he is taking to tackle pre-production plastic pellet, nurdle, pollution in the marine environment.

Mr Seely said he hoped to build on the previous steps the Government has taken to reduce plastic pollution. These include a world-first ban on the sale of products containing microbeads, restricting single-use items such as plastic straws, pledging to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste by the end of 2042 and establishing the Commonwealth Clean Ocean Alliance. Bob’s said:

“The government has a good record when it comes to tackling plastic pollution, but there is always more to do, and it is clear that nurdles in particular are a worldwide problem so I want to see what more we can be doing to help tackle this problem.”

We should be more concerned with the polution currently staining Britian. The filthy conservative government. Seeley is finished, no matter how many times he infiltrates our media or postboxes.

This “man” who is part of the government has written a letter to the government asking for an explanation. Maybe he will write the reply to himself!
But really this is just a load of bollocks theatrics to try and make it look like the government are doing something useful. He must be sweating because he will soon be out of a job and there will be some tears then.

Love how we are trying to look after the planet and cut down global warming yet there has been miles and miles of traffic queuing on the downs road for well over a month now because nobody at Island roads can fix a set of traffic lights

All he and his party cares about is business, big business. In the last year the UK has had the most small business insolvencies since 2008 crash, the crash the our current PM help cause and made record profits from. They having been cutting funding from our school system at a time the schools are latterly crumbing into dust and yet give tax cuts to the private schools that they send their kids too.

To me, parliament, and I mean all of them, are guilty of treason and the theft of our nations wealth and our children’s futures. We have been left the only option and to copy what the French did a few hundred years ago.

Yes I totally agree..I’ve been thinking the same for ages..unfortunately most British people are to brainwashed to consider revolution..instead supporting blatant murder in gaza.. sad days for sure..as for Bob..well I spose he’s more worried about plastic in his sausages..

Failed Haiku. Your last line has 6 syllables.
It would have been funnier if it ended
‘Only half a saus…..’
One less syllable and half a sausage.

We should be more concerned with particles released from tyre usage, I believe thats the leading contributor to micro plastic pollution, but I think Island Roads is taking care of that problem hahahahah, Fairlee road backed up to the 40 zone absolute mayhem in Newport n1, all because of 1 road closed in the town centre. Usually I ignore the road closed signs because theres rarely a closure or people working, but you got me twice today Island roads hahhaha diabolical masterminds

Perhaps he could also ask a few questions about the sewage in our waters that keeps locals and tourists out of the water. Follow the Money. Water companies are a monopoly and therefore a guaranteed money machine which is why foreign companies own so much of it. The companies have made large profits for their bonuses and shareholders whilst the water system sewage system falls apart. Perhaps it’s not such a good idea to privatise a monopoly

Privatisation under the Tories has been a disaster, Water aprime example but the Royal Mail is now so useless any letter I send now has to go by registered post to ensure it’s arrival. Electricity & gas, huge profits & huge bills, the rail network, most expensive & most unreliable in Europe. Anything the Tories touch is a failure for everyone apart from the investors & let’s be straight about it, the NHS is quietly being privatised, I had to go to St Mary’s hospital in Portsmouth for a procedure recently, a private hospital but it was paid for by the NHS.

If anyone received a Tory party leaflet through their door, you may have noticed it came with a ‘freepost’ return envelope. You are at liberty to return the leaflet as unsolicited mail using the envelope provided. It’s a small gesture but every penny hurts the party funds. You could also use the envelope as a label for a gift say a bag of barbecue coals and half a sausage. I guess you could get creative but keep it legal. I wouldn’t do that but there are those that might.

Maybe large bags of plastic bits gathered up from the beaches? Bob will dispose of them responsibly. It’s his new mission.

Bob, sort the jokers @ Redfunnel and the raw poo being pumped onto our beaches and you might get reelected, otherwise just F%$K OFF.

Time is running out Bob Seely you are not doing enough for the Important Things on our Island.Plastic won’t bring Our ferry prices down.I read today that a motoring club is being offered return tickets from Southampton to the Island for as little as £39.50. B S do you think that’s fair.In effect we Residents are subsidising Mainland cheap fares. It’s election time soon and Residents will Vote with their feet.

£39 foot passenger return journey on Wightlink Fastcat. Out on Thursday, back on Friday.
£20.20 return train Portsmouth to London Waterloo. Out on Thursday back on Friday.
Surely that’s beyond outrageous pricing for a 15 minute journey? Ferry almost double the cost of the train. Bob’s got to work some special kind of magic.

Should he not be more concerned about island issues? Everywhere is falling into the sea and now actually in Ventnor as well? Soon he will not have to worry about plastic, only in the form of rescue boats! Wasting time on royal title squabbles, where did that get him?
Someone with baubles, please step forward and represent the island and its needs!

Plastic wheelie bins don’t generally go into landfill in their tonnes. At the end of their life they are recycled.

Bob in Labour run Wales farmers are having 20% of their land taken away from them,
will this be allowed to happen on the island, or will you make sure that this
does not happen to Island farmers?!.

Why aren’t you doing more to get our council tax lower by getting the island deal sorted. The Extra £3m is just a token and not a solution. Why should we be paying one of the highest council taxes and Westminster pays the lowest.
Ferrys need to be held to account for poor service and needs regulating aswell as a fix price for locals.

Another photo oppurtunity for our Bob the bread maker. Does this man actually do anything apart from go to Davos to meet up with his mates at the WEF an organisation responsible for globalisation & ensuring the rich get richer. Also votes to allow genocide to continue in Palestine at the hands of a state that is basically Fascist.
