A yellow weather warning has been issued for the Isle of Wight tonight (Thursday) and into Friday morning, with Islanders being urged to take care due to the risk of black ice.
Forecasters at IW Met Service say that as the skies clear this evening the temperature will fall once again leading to a widespread frost.
Surface water from today’s rainfall will quickly freeze, especially in rural areas and on untreated roads and surfaces leading to the formation of black ice. The risk will be higher where field run-off water continues to drain from the last 48 hours of rainfall.
Extra care should be taken on the roads, especially on minor roads that may be untreated.
You can view IW Met Service’s frost risk maps at https://www.iwmetservice.co.uk/iceandfrost/. According to the animations, the highest risk is at around 04:00, with greater risk in the South Wight.
The warning is active from 22:00 tonight until 11:00 tomorrow morning (15th January 2021).

Hope no crashes on the roads, unlikely I know….The idiot’s could have a “Field” day..
