The collection of black bins, recycling and green waste will be pushed back by a day next week, as binmen are given the day off for the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
For 1 week only, commencing 19th September, households will see their usual collection day pushed back by 24 hours. For example, if your bins are normally collected on a Monday, they will instead by collected on Tuesday.
Collections for the week commencing Monday 26th September will resume on their normal day.
Natasha Dix, the council’s strategic manager for the environment, said:
“It is with the greatest sadness that we learnt of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s death is an enormous loss as the majority of us will have never known a time without our Queen.
“We have taken the decision, with our waste partners, Amey, to suspend kerbside collections on the day of her State Funeral as a mark of respect. As a result, collections will roll forward by a day over that week.”
Household Recycling Centres at Lynnbottom and Afton Marsh will remain open.

Not given a day of if they now have to work on Saturday. A true dictatorship, you WILL move your working week. And if you had plans for that Saturday for your boys birthday, tuff, miss it.
