Alex Dyke and his radio sidekick ‘The Doc’ have donated £1,000 to Mountbatten following their recent theatre show.
The pair, who used to host Isle of Wight Radio’s popular phone-in show, relived their favourite stories and memories at Medina Theatre on 12th March, with proceeds from the show donated to Mountbatten.
Speaking about the successful fundraiser, Alex has said:
“The Doc and I had a wonderful time reliving some very funny moments from the Isle of Wight phone-in and were so pleased that so many people supported the event. It was a great opportunity to bring back some wonderful Island memories.
“Big thanks to all of those who took the time and trouble to come out and see us being silly on stage, and we’d also like to thank all of those who help make it happen behind the scenes”.
The money will support Mountbatten’s work in providing 24/7 care for over 2,000 people every day across the Island in their homes, on the 16-bed in-patient unit and through day services at the hospice building and at St Mary’s hospital.
A £1,000 donation can provide 50 meals for hospice patients or pay for a Mountbatten nurse to care for a dying patient in their home for 4 nights.
