A 3-day celebration of real ale, craft beer and cider is coming to Ryde this October as part of the inaugural Ryde Independent Pubs Beer, Cider & Craft Festival, taking place across 7 of the town’s independent pubs.
Kicking off on Friday 10th October and running through to Sunday 12th October, the festival will see participating venues expanding their drinks menus with a wide range of local and national real ales, craft beers and ciders.
The 7 magnificent venues taking part in the celebration are:
- The Railway (St John’s Road)
- The Star Coffee & Ale House (High Street)
- The Castle Inn (High Street)
- The King Lud (Esplanade)
- Harry’s Bar (Esplanade)
- The Simeon Arms (Simeon Street)
- The Solent (Montkon Street)
Live music, traditional pub games, competitions and merchandise will all be part of the weekend’s offering, with organisers aiming to drive footfall into Ryde and showcase the town’s independent pub scene.
A stampable guide is being featured in the latest issue of WightRider magazine, which festival-goers can use to track their visits to each pub. Those who collect all 7 stamps will be eligible to claim a limited-edition commemorative pin badge.
The self-guided trail forms part of the wider WightRider vintage bus event and is also featured as a walking route in this year’s Isle of Wight Walking Festival.
A spokesperson for the organisers has said:
“Independent pubs work extremely hard to survive in an industry that has been decimated over the past 10 years.
“Now more than ever, small independents need your support – we don’t have the luxury of big companies with big pockets. As the saying goes: use us, or lose us.”
Wightwash, the Isle of Wight branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), is backing the festival and continues to support local events that promote real ale and pub culture.
