The National Crime Agency (NCA) has said that initial testing of suspicious packages that have washed up on Isle of Wight beaches over the past week indicates that the substance is cocaine.
This confirmation comes after the NCA previously said they believed the packages contained ‘a significant amount of Class A drugs’, which would have originated in South America.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the 1st find on the Isle of Wight was made by a group of litter pickers on Saturday, before another discovery was made on Sunday. The haul, thought to be worth millions of pounds, was guarded by Armed Police before being taken off-Island.
On Monday, it was exclusively reported by Island Echo that Police were still seeking to identify a man who is feared to have left the area with some of the high-purity cocaine.
Commenting on the ongoing investigation, the NCA has said:
“At this time we believe we have recovered all the suspected drugs but the investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement remain vigilant to the possibility that further packages could be recovered.”
However, Island Echo understands that a further discovery was made just this morning (Wednesday) at Grange Chine near Brighstone.

Probably jettisoned when some drug dealers got SHOOK
Packing me bucket and spade as i speak.
Good luck, just don’t sell any of it the the island drivers, they already have enough….
So funny. NOT
I fancy a nice long walk along the back of the islands coast tonight, good for stress relief
Police keep going on about this man they want to speak to, giving a discription as well, either he was one of the transporters in first place and come ashore looking or he is inocent and the dealers have kidnapped him and his haul ?
The drug tourist will be along soon, I wonder how many islands smackheads will be visiting the area….
Smackheads tend to do heroin and can’t afford coke unless they go and rob their grans or the local corner shop.
