The National Police Air Service Helicopter (NPAS) is once again scouring the South Coast of the Island – less than 24 hours after millions of pounds worth of suspected Class A drugs were found on the Isle of Wight coastline.
Drafted from their mainland base at around 11:45, the helicopter has paid particular interest to the Ventnor, St Lawrence, Puckaster Cove and Niton areas – as it did yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
As previously reported by Island Echo, yesterday morning a group of litter picks found packages washed up on the South West coastline of the Island between St Catherine’s Lighthouse and Isle of Wight Pearl.
Hoards of officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and HM Coastguard were seen at rendezvous points along the lengthy Military Road.
Island Echo understands that the narcotics were escorted from the Island by Armed Police yesterday evening.
The huge cocaine haul discovery here on the Island was in the same week as a find in Dorset, on 2nd October, in which several holdalls of suspected Class A were also found and seized.
UPDATE @ 14:10 – A new package – thought to contain cocaine – has been found on a beach in the West Wight, it has been confirmed.
HM Coastguard’s fixed-wing plane has been in the skies above the South Wight today, alongside the Police helicopter, assisting with the recovery operation.
Anyone who locates any suspicious packages should call 999 immediately.

Less of a presence and less publicity might bring better results. All that ‘high vis’ isn’t exactly clandestine.
Looking for people leaving the beach with more than they went with no doubt.
Well done to the people/person that found this filth!!!!! Why do druggies start taking this filth knowing what harm it can cause to themselves and to their family. I have had a very poor upbringing and went without many things in my younger days but have never EVER wanted to put this rubbish into my system!!!! I have never smoked and don’t drink either so why do people do this KNOWING FULL WELL THE CONSEQUENCES!!!!
The Police in the picture don’t see to be scouring very well
Makes me laugh someone could be getting murdered/robbed/stabbed/ and all you get is we busy now some white powder is found and you have never so many police on the island ( that’s why you never see a poor copper)
It does advertise that the island has “packages” washing up so does that not encourage the undesirables who use/sell these “packages” to rush here or those on the island to flood the areas where they’ve been found in the hopes of a find!
Man that would been one hell of a party. I’m off down the beach
weekend ….partytime
