The Balcony nightclub in Ryde could close as a nightclub due to the falling number of guests, with the prospect of this Saturday being the last over 18s event.
Despite putting on a variety of different themed and celebrity nights each Saturday, the nightclub above Ryde Superbowl on the Esplanade has failed to attract the desired number of guests over recent months, a problem that has been blamed on the club’s previously poor reputation.
Three years ago The Balcony reopened under new management after a spell of being called ‘The Qube’, whose license was reviewed in 2011 after significant disorder and criminal damage.
Now, night clubbers are being warned to use it or lose it as dwindling numbers mean it has become very difficult for the promoters to continue providing regular Saturday night entertainment.
Stewart Mclaughlan from The Balcony said:
“The future of the club really depends on the numbers we receive this weekend. I would ask that if you really do want a good nightlife on the island to please keep the venue open so we continue our mission to improve and re-design a once loved venue and one of the island’s once favourite party hot spot”.
The Balcony as a venue is set to continue with parties and under 18s events, details of which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Flux-Parties-U18s-IOW/1435007026813628?hc_location=ufi.
