Police on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an attempted robbery in Newport on Saturday.
The incident is alleged to have happened in Scarrots Lane at some time between 20:00 – 21:00, when a man thought to be aged in his 50s tried to grab a 16-year-old girl’s handbag.
The victim held onto her bag and the suspect made off empty-handed. The girl was unhurt in the incident.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or saw a white man aged between 40-60-years-old in the area at the time are asked to call 101, quoting 44150238554. Information can be given anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
