ATTEMPTED MUGGING IN SHANKLIN’S REGENT STREET

policevansearchdrugsUPDATED: Police are searching for a female male suspect following an attempted mugging in Regent Street, Shanklin this afternoon (Friday).

Island Echo understands a woman man attempted to rob another woman as she got money out of a cash point at the town’s HSBC branch at around 13:45.

Nearby members of the public are said to have given chase before losing the suspect.

Several Police units are now patrolling the area with a description of the wanted female male.

UPDATE @ 18:00 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed they are searching for a female who attempted to take cash from another female in Regent Street this afternoon.

The wanted woman is said to have failed in her attempt to take the cash before crossing the road, meeting a male and then proceeding to flee away from Regent Street towards High Street.

Police say the woman has shoulder length brown hair, is of scruffy appearance and was wearing black tracksuit bottoms. The man is described as having long hair and wearing a rain coat.
