Islander Holly Macgillivray, 25, has beaten over 1000 curvy women from around the world to become the only size 18 beauty competing in the annual Star in a Bra competition- a search to find the new face and body of D plus underwear brand, Curvy Kate.
The shapely cruise ship singing siren is hoping to be crowned Curvy Kate’s latest brand ambassador to help spread body positivity and acceptance and is now calling on Islanders to help support her by voting between now and Wednesday (4th March) to push forward into the Top 10.
DD+ Macgillivray will battle against 24 other international women who will now be put to a public vote. The line-up sees 1 Australian, 3 Americans, 1 Canadian, 1 South African, 1 Ukrainian, 2 French, 1 Polish, 1 Irish and 13 other curvaceous British women fighting for the 2015 Star in a Bra crown.
10 Semi-finalists, who will be announced on 10th March, will be invited to London for a photoshoot and makeover with the Curvy Kate team, before a final public vote.
The overall winner, to be announced on 9th April, will join the brand’s curvy line up at their summer shoot, enjoy an all-expense paid trip to the Mediterranean for two with £1000 spending money and also be awarded a year-long modelling contract with Bridge Models Limited.
Curvy beauty Holly says:
“I’m entering Star in a Bra because I would love to share my confidence with other ladies and help people learn how to love themselves! I’ve always been told I should give this competition a go and this year I thought why not!
“You have to be in it to win it and I have my fingers crossed, plus I’d love to represent such a fantastic company!”
With the public outcry for the use of more realistic images in the media, the Star in a Bra competition champions the use of customer role models and promotes a positive approach to body image, which all women can relate to. Known for their use of non-professional models, Curvy Kate show their fans exactly how their lingerie will look and fit on a variety of body shapes, cementing the message there isn’t one type of ‘perfect body’. With a ‘open to all policy’ and a message of diversity and fun, Curvy Kate want to find a confident girl with killer curves to model in all their PR and Marketing campaigns.
