The Isle of Wight’s artistic tapestry is set to be showcased once more, as IW Open Studios makes a return in 2024. This heralds a new era for IW Open Studios with a collective of artists forming an action team dedicated to reviving the Island-wide event which will take place from Friday 23rd August to Sunday 8th September 2024. This event shines a light on the Island’s unique artistic community and opens doors — quite literally — to the vibrant studios of local artists, inviting both residents and visitors to embark on a journey of artistic discovery. Spanning nearly 2 decades, IW Open Studios has been a cornerstone of cultural exploration on the Island, allowing the public a rare glimpse into the creative processes of artists. A new website and branding are in the works to bring a fresh visual identity and enhanced accessibility, ensuring that artists and art enthusiasts alike have a platform to connect and celebrate creativity. A coordinated and connected approach will also see artists grouped into 5 clusters across the Island, with Area Reps supporting each cluster, promoting a sense of community, and enabling participants to also experience the studios of their fellow creatives. Georgia Newman, one of the three new Directors of Isle of Wight Open Studios said,

We’re not just preserving a beloved tradition; we’re enriching it for generations to come. It’s about collectively fostering a vibrant arts scene on the Isle of Wight that appeals to both seasoned enthusiasts and young, passionate creatives. We aim to champion creative practices and showcase the diverse talent that exists here on our island. “This exciting endeavour invites everyone to be part of shaping an inspiring cultural legacy, by building a sustainable and vibrant future for the arts on the Isle of Wight.”
The new IW Open Studios website will be announced soon and will enable artists to register a profile page and their IWOS 2024 venue and dates (at any point within the defined dates). In the meantime, with the new dates set for 2024, artists are encouraged to follow IW Open Studios on Facebook & Instagram and start thinking about when to welcome visitors into their creative sanctuaries – and visitors to pencil the dates in their diaries.
